Basically if you are too poor for a lawyer everyone will lie to you and try to screw you over and get you caught up in the legal system. Don't take any pleas! Demand a speedy trial (you have to file a motion for this) and ask for a trial by jury. Don't let the public defender manipulate you if you have one. A good lawyer would have the case dismissed if you have money. After I was arrested I saw the picture. The "black eye" was a slight red mark on the side of his face that could come from anything. I really feel ashamed of the conduct of a lot of police officers. I got a copy of their findings and contacted the police department of Texas (where the other man resided) and went online and because his crimes were all public record I bought his criminal report for $6.00 This included a list that was identical to the list that was on my husbands report and it also included a very lovely mug shot of the other man. I made sure to print this in color multiple times as well as making enlarged copies of my husbands drivers license and a copy of his report so that the difference was obvious. In a one day turn around, my husband had his job back and never questioned again about any criminal activity. Now our problem is that even though the texas man and my husband share same name and birthdate they do not share the same social security number but somehow... the texas mans information is in my husbands credit report.
