hOW DO YOU FIND FREE CRIMINAL COURT RECORD REPORTS COLORADO AND SOUTH DAKOTA?

I am envolved in a legal custody battle with a 4 month old who the elleged father is trying to get custody of. The father is an addicted alcoholic and has criminal background in Iowa as well as a Restraining order against him, put in place by the mother. Any information regarding this is greatly appriciated. Also trying to find a good inexspensive lawyer for the mother who is the respondent in the case.

If you want criminal records you either have to know somebody on the inside or you have to pay for a background check. I think Zaba.com has the service. An attorney can also get that information. Most attorneys have a private investigator working for them who can pull that stuff up. The attorney can also get a subpeona which will force the police to turnover that information. I’m not a lawyer, but I have some experience with the law! Good luck!

Although some states provide free online access to court proceedings, there is currently no free online access to court records for either Colorado or So. Dakota.

Your friend’s attorney will no doubt assist her in getting this information.

You don’t say where your friend lives but she could begin looking for an attorney through her state’s Bar Association. Most Bar Associations have a web site. She should interview several attorneys before she chooses the one she wants to represent her. Her interviews should include questions about attorney fees.
