Hello! I have just recently been arrested for resisting arrest- 148(a)(1) P.C. I found out today that the charge has been dropped and I actually expected that to happen. In my record it will appear that I have been arrested, but never convicted. Does anyone know if that affects a potential law school applicant? I thought since charges were dropped, it would be as if the entire situation never took place. Can someone please give me some feedback?

Thanks for the time.

  1. Robert Wilkins says:

It doesn’t appear on your "record."

But the jail you were in does keep information on your holding.

Usually it is not valid in court unless you were found guilty.

  2. Anna says:

as long as the crime was considered either a misdemeanor or infraction, it shouldn’t affect your ability to get a job or get into a school (depending on what state you live in). Only felonies affect that and I believe that felonies are the only check that schools make for applicants.

  3. mike_b_284 says:

don’t worry about it. innocent until proven guilty. Basically you can’t be discrimminated against if you were not convicted. unless you are pacman jones.

  4. Apollo says:

If you ever plan on running for a political office, I would suggest to start contemplating the best way to talk about it in your campaign.
