How long is bankruptcy on your record?

I’ve been thinking lately about filing bankrupt…but was wondering how long it is on your record…//Does that mean I can keep my home and two cars and not pay for them also…besides all the debt I have with my other credit card bills…help..confused I am…

    That is not at all what it means. If you expect to keep your house and cars, you can also expect to be required to continue paying for them, as agreed. If you don’t, all will be foreclosed and/or repossessed.

    A bankruptcy will remain in your credit files for ten years after discharge.

    Talk with a lawyer. Liquidation bankruptcy means you lose everything to satisfy your creditors. The home and cars are sold off to pay your debts. Your bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for 10 years. You will be unable to get a loan of any kind during that period.
