Talk to the clerk in the court house in your county.
All the Clerk of Court sites that I’ve used charge a fee for the use of the court records, if they have one on line. Not all Parishes have that available. And in all instances I’ve encountered, you have to apply for an I.D. and password. You may be able to view the docket sheet at no charge, but if you want to view the actual pleading filed, you will be charged a fee. For instance I know Jefferson Parish has this available, but there is a set up fee, a monthly fee and you have to pay if you want to print a document, per page.
If you are looking for a particular document, you can call the Clerk’s office and speak to one of the Deputy Clerks there and they will pull up the record on their system and give you the information you need. If you do not have the docket number, you can give them the parties names and they can take it from there. Most are very helpful and don’t mind assisting you.
If the records are public, you can go the courthouse and view them for nothing. That would be your best bet, and the cheaper route.
