buy a voice recorder you should be able to get one from either argos or e bay

I would reccommend buying an old-fashioned tape recorder, and taping everything- including their consent to the taping. You could always use a computer microphone, or the ones that come with mp3 players, sometimes, but those are really easy to edit, and may not be admissible as definite proof.

On tape, give the date and time, identify yourself, then ask the other party to state their name, and address, then ask if they agree to have the conversation recorded.

"This is Jane Doe, today’s date is 1-7-07, the time is approximately 6pm Central time. I’m speaking with John Doe. John, can you state your name and spell it please?"

After he does, then say:

"Are you aware that this conversation is being recorded?"
and
"Do you give your permission for me to record this conversation"

At the end, state "this concludes the recorded portion of the interview/conversation".

Not only do you need a micro recorder but you also need the attachment that will suction to the earpiece on your phone. All are available for about 20$ at Radio Shack..
