    Of course!
If something went wrong, I’d be able to review the transcripts to see if there would be justification for an appeal.

  1. Randy B says:

You have no choice. ALL court proceedings are recorded in one form or another. There is always a transcript of the proceedings that is either created at that time by the court reporter or it’s audio/video recorded and a transcript is made later.

  2. SteveA8 says:

Absolutely. First and foremost to protect the innocent from being railroaded and not being able to produce evidence for an appeal. Second, to be sure the defense has a protection against overzealous prosecution, even if the defendant is guilty. The prosecution must work strictly within the framework of the law.

  1. paulisfree2004 says:

its benefical to both as you must preserve to appeal

  2. Angel says:

Actually, I would in either case. This is the new form of court reporting – no longer done on a 10-key. Everything is audio now, and it is so much more accurate when someone needs to actually have a court proceeding transcribed for future court proceedings, disagreement of proceedings after the fact, etc. I don’t see any reason why there should be any issue with this, no matter what side of the bench you are on. It is nothing more than technological advances in the courtroom.

  3. Zelda says:

Of course! Either way – if things go wrong and I need to appeal or file a new lawsuit…I would want it all on record.
