You can find criminal convictions and civil lawsuits on your state's judicial website. You just have to find it. Usually it something like www.ohiostate judiciary.com or www.michigan statecourts.com Google (name of your state) judiciary or courts. Find that site and go to "case look-up." Generally, you can just type in the name of the person and all cases will come up. That will take care of court records. I think complete background checks can only be done by law enforcement agencies, but you might call a private investigator. If your state licenses p.i.'s, they'd have access to all records. I'm a lawyer and I can only get case backgrounds.
