Where can I find a detailed death record from the 1930’s?

I am looking for my great grandmas death record. I would like to find out how and exactly when she died. I have been told she died everything from childbirth to suicide. I would like to know the truth. Where can I go to find this information?

I’ve checked ancestory.com and there is no record of her except the passenger manifest from the ship she came over from Italy on.

Also, she resided and died in Chicago, and I am in Northwest Indiana so it would be easy for me to go find the records, I just dont know where or what I’m looking for.

Any advice that you guys have to point me in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Your can write to the Register of Records office in Chicago and request a copy of her death certificate. Just google the address from the city directory.
